Q- WHAT IS CONSIDERED THE BEST SEASON FOR FISHING ON KAUAI ?
A-Our fishing is year round. There are no set "Fishing Season's" in Hawaii. Ultimately it depends on several factors including water temperature, wind, current, and the tide. Sometimes even the moon cycle. In essence the best time to fish in Hawaii is anytime !
Q- CAN WE KEEP THE FISH?
A- Yes, WE SHARE the fish at Island Fishing Kauai we are happy to cut and filet fish for all our clients at the dock as well as provide zip lock bags so you can take fish with you.The distribution of the fish will be at the Captains discretion.Usually enough fish is provided for each person on the boat to enjoy a couple of meals.Often times the more fish caught the more that's given out.
As for the fish not distributed to the clients. These fish are sold to cover replacement cost of the gear we commonly lose while fishing. In addition to keeping the initial cost affordable.Unlike in Alaska and Long range boats in California. We don't have fish processors waiting at the docks. So the freezing and shipping of fish maybe unrealistic when considering these cost.

If you were to purchase a private sport fishing charter you and your party will be the sole occupants on the boat.
Q- CAN WE DO BOTTOM FISHING?
A- If the ocean conditions permit us we can certainly drop baits and do shallow water bottom fishing. Bottom fishing on Kauai takes place in water depths of 60 to 240 feet, drifting along the coastline and fishing from the bottom of the reef. Due to our often heavy currents this type of fishing can be difficult. The bottom fish we often catch are Ulua or Giant Trevally, Kahala or Amber Jack, Uku or Grey Snapper. Sharks and various other species can be hooked as well.
